Religion
- 'Not by might, not by power, but by my Spirit, saith the Lord.' Zechariah 4:6
- 'For it is God which worketh in you both to will and to do of his good pleasure.
Philippians 2:12-14
- At the core I am good and at the surface I am bad, not vice versus because the
Spirit is at my core.
- I only see mercy when I see that I need mercy.
- May I stop praying to God only to change the problems in my life and instead pray
that the problems iin my life change me.
- I need to drop the idea that God smiles when I do good and frowns when I do bad.
That idea minimizes my sinfulness and overestimates my good works.
- Do I really believe that my 'good works' do not cut any ice with God?
- Lord help me not to be arrogant in my humility.
- I always fretted over lack orf peace or 'emotional hugs' from God. I wanted
assurance that I was 'doing it right'. Now I know that I don't do it right and that is
alright. I only need to accept that God does not give atta-boys - He gives mercy
(glory) and I accept it un-earned.
- 'Blessed are the poor in Spirit.' Matthew 5:3
- It is better to be the prodical son than the older son. The older son never gets a
party.
- Don't get stuck in the pig pen, but go home to the Father. There is no point in
seeing our faults, everyone sees our faults.
- Mercy - accepting the forgiveness - not just asking for it.
- God's glory is His mercy.
-When we see God's glory we will be transformed. 'We chall be like Him for we will
see Him as He is.' I John 3:2
- I see God's tenderness more by seeing my lack of tenderness.
My struggle is not to get my life straightened out, but to get me straightened out.
